Essentials
SECURE YOUR BOAT
If you’re new to whitewater paddling or don’t have equipment suited for rapids, we highly recommend renting or purchasing a sit-on-top kayak.
The main advantage of a sit-on-top is that it’s much easier to re-enter if you capsize—and you’ll likely have a faster river split time as well. Another perk: sit-on-tops don’t require the 30% flotation rule that traditional kayaks do.
Please note that pool noodles, inner tubes, and bubble wrap are not acceptable flotation materials.

TRAIN
Every August, we host Pre-Wolfie Clinics for both mountain biking and whitewater paddling. Once you register, watch our newsletters and Facebook page for announcements about clinic dates. These weekend sessions typically include a full day of whitewater paddling and a half day of mountain biking—you can choose to do both or either. It’s the perfect way to get ready for the Wolfman!
